Node - Send SMS

Node purpose: Send SMS notifications with specified content to designated recipients. Each SMS costs 0.007 credits.

Example scenario: After a customer’s order is shipped, automatically send an SMS notification with the tracking number.

Workflow Configuration

  1. Add the Send SMS node
  2. Select SMS recipients
  3. Configure SMS content
  4. Publish and test the workflow

1. Add the Send SMS Node

2. Add SMS Recipients

You can specify recipients in the following ways:

  • Enter one or more phone numbers directly.
  • Select HAP accounts, or choose from organization departments, organization roles, or app roles.
If a role includes multiple members, each member will receive the SMS.
  • Select a phone number field from the record.
The field must be a telephone field (text fields are not supported).
  • Select the record owner, record creator, or the workflow trigger user.
  • Combine multiple methods above to select multiple recipients.

If an account does not have a bound phone number, the SMS will fail to send and the workflow will be terminated.

3. Configure SMS Content

A complete SMS consists of a SMS signature and a message body. You can configure different SMS templates based on business needs.

1. Create an SMS Template

Entry Point for Creating a Template

In the Send SMS node within the workflow, click Create New Template.
For each template, you need to select a signature, message type, and SMS content.

SMS Signature

The SMS signature appears at the beginning of each message and is automatically added to every SMS.
The signature must not exceed 20 characters.

  • Custom signatures are added and managed centrally by organization administrators in the organization admin console, and can only be selected after real-name verification is approved.
  • You can also use the platform signature 【Mingdao】 or the SMS provider’s signature 【Jixintong】.

SMS Types

Different SMS types follow different regulatory mechanisms. Based on your business needs, you can choose between Industry Notifications and Marketing SMS.

SMS Content

SMS content supports both static text and dynamic values from other workflow nodes.

For example, you can select the Tracking Number field from a previous node. The SMS sent for each record will automatically fetch and insert the tracking number for that specific record.

Once configured, click Submit to save the template.

Note:
Do not use 【】 in the message body. These brackets are reserved for SMS signatures.
Since your message already includes a signature, using 【】 in the content is not allowed.
You may use [], <>, 《》, or omit the brackets entirely.

Line Breaks in SMS Content

The SMS content editor does not support pressing Enter for new lines.
To insert a line break, use the \b escape character.

SMS Template Management

  • Edit Templates

After a template is saved, you can edit its content or delete it.

  • Delete Templates

Only organization administrators can delete SMS templates.
Deleted templates will no longer be available when configuring new Send SMS nodes, but existing nodes using the deleted templates will not be affected.

SMS Billing Rules

  • Marketing SMS (Up to 500 Characters Supported)

    • Charges are based on the total number of characters, including both the signature and the message content.

    • Each punctuation mark, letter, Chinese character, or space counts as one character.

    • Billing tiers:

      • 1-64 characters: charged as 1 message
      • 65–128 characters: charged as 2 messages
      • 129–192 characters: charged as 3 messages
      • And so on...

Although billing may be based on multiple segments, the recipient’s phone will display the SMS as one complete message.

      Note on character overflow:

      • While 65–70 characters still count as 1 message, they exceed the carrier’s technical limit for a single segment (64 characters).
      • In this case, you must either reduce the message to 64 characters or extend it to at least 71 characters, which will then be charged as 2 messages.
      • Similar rules apply for 129–134 characters and other overflow boundaries.
  • Industry Notification SMS

    • Billing tiers:

      • 1–70 characters: charged as 1 message
      • 71–128 characters: 2 messages
      • 129–192 characters: 3 messages
      • And so on...

No overflow character rules apply for this type — you don’t need to reduce or increase characters to fit specific limits.

However, choosing the "Industry Notification" type does not guarantee the SMS will bypass marketing filters.

After submission, the carrier may still reclassify your message as Marketing SMS.

To avoid delivery issues or interception by carriers, always double-check the content and length before sending.

Didn't Receive the SMS?

Due to stricter carrier regulations, messages may be blocked if:

  • The SMS signature is not registered and verified with your real identity.
  • The content contains links, phone numbers, or suspicious keywords.

To improve delivery success, please follow the required registration and approval process.
