Display Dates and Times in Your Personal Time Zone
When team members work across different time zones, the same date and time may need to be displayed differently for each user. HAP can display supported date and time values based on each user's personal time zone, making it easier to interpret task start times, deadlines, and other time-sensitive information correctly.
Key Concepts
Server Time Zone: The server time zone serves as the standard time reference for storing date and time values and running system-level features, such as date-based chart statistics and scheduled workflows.
For HAP SaaS, the server time zone is Beijing Time (UTC+08:00). Date and time values in worksheets, system time fields, workflow trigger times, and other time-related data are stored based on the server time zone. When users enter or view supported date and time values, HAP converts them according to their personal time zone.
Personal Time Zone: The personal time zone is a user-level setting that determines how supported date and time values are displayed for each user. Users can select a time zone based on their location or preference so that these values are shown in the corresponding local time.
Select a Personal Time Zone
Click the profile picture, then go to More > Basics and select a personal time zone. See the list of supported time zones.
The personal time zone applies to:
- Date-and-time fields in worksheets
- Timestamps in worksheet and record logs
- Date and time values in Gantt views, Calendar views, and Resource views
- Timestamps in chat messages and notifications

Entering Date Values

Date and time values entered by users are interpreted in their personal time zone.

Time zone conversion applies only to date fields that include a time value. Date-only fields are not affected by time zones.

If a date field displays only the year, month, and day, the value remains the same across all time zones. For example, March 27, 2024 in UTC+08:00 is still displayed as March 27, 2024 when viewed from any other time zone.

If a date field includes both the date and time, the displayed time is converted based on the viewer's personal time zone. For example, March 27, 2024 at 9:00 AM in UTC+08:00 is displayed as March 27, 2024 at 10:00 AM for a user in UTC+09:00.
In the example below, users in UTC+08:00 and UTC+10:00 view the same worksheet record. The same date and time value is displayed two hours apart based on their respective time zones. Date-only fields remain unchanged.

Displaying Date and Time Values
- Datetime fields in worksheets support display based on each user's personal time zone. When a value is viewed, HAP converts it to the user's local time. When the value is edited and saved, HAP converts it back to the server time zone for storage.
